PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Black Rob (ranked 7965 p4p, 472 weight class) and LI Chen (ranked 6194 p4p, 428 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chen gets caught flat footed, as Rob shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rob stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rob wants to control from the top but Chen keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chen seems keen to control Rob's posture.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chen is pulling down on Rob's head. It's preventing any offense from Rob, at least for the moment.
Chen can't keep his opponent in guard - Rob advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Chen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Chen manages to get to full guard.
Rob wants to pass the guard but Chen is keeping the position.
Rob passes Chen's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Rob is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chen has managed to free his arm - good work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rob works his foot free and advances to mount.

Rob is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Chen is defending well though. Rob let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

I really don't envy Chen right now.

Rob has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Chen's body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Chen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rob has his feet on Chen's thighs here. He's pushed Chen off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Chen screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
