PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clark Kent (ranked 2099 p4p, 248 weight class) and Max Roberts (ranked 2506 p4p, 298 weight class). Kent comes to the cage accompanied by Save Me - Remy Zero (Smallville Theme). Roberts has chosen Break Stuff as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clark Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kent walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kent uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Roberts.
Kent smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Max Roberts has been cut.
Kent pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kent tries to bum rush Roberts with a series of wild strikes but Roberts uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Roberts scores with a jab to the body.
Kent misses with a hook. Roberts ducked under it nicely.
A combination from Kent does no damage.
Roberts takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Kent throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Roberts sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Roberts moves out of range as Kent strikes.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kent loads up on a big right hand but Roberts slips the punch.
Roberts tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kent was well out of range. Poor timing from Roberts.
Kent appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Roberts jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kent swings for the body but Roberts moves out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Roberts! But no joy.

A jab lands there for Kent.
Kent throws out a powerful jab.
Kent is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Roberts will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kent walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

It seemed like Roberts was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Clark Kent is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Roberts changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kent missing with a left hand there. Roberts was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Roberts has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Kent uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Roberts.
Clark Kent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roberts misses with a hook. Kent ducked under it nicely.
Kent lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Roberts at a distance.

Kent throws a jab but it's blocked by Roberts.
Roberts lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Roberts dives in and scores a takedown into Kent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roberts got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kent has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Roberts has managed to get both his arms back between Kent's legs - danger averted.
Roberts is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kent pulls Roberts in close to prevent any damage.

Kent wants to control the position but Roberts says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kent is staying active underneath Roberts, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Roberts looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Kent is trying to control but can't.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kent misses with a low kick.
Roberts throws a body punch but Kent moves out of range.
Kent leaves Roberts with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kent. Roberts does a little dance to reset his feet.

Roberts throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kent stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roberts connects with a body shot that sends Kent's belly button to the back.
Kent swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Roberts is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kent rather than just go for the knockout.

Kent is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Roberts can do to turn this around?

Kent fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Roberts has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Roberts throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kent lands with an overhand left.
Kent scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kent bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Roberts's head.
Kent stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kent connects with a crisp jab.


Roberts is rocked!
Nice uppercut lands for Kent. That snapped Roberts's head back.
Roberts is still on wobbly legs! Can Kent finish him?
Kent cracks Roberts on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Roberts falls backwards against the cage. Kent follows up with more strikes that drop Roberts to his knees. Kent keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Roberts! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clark Kent!
Clark Kent tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
In defeat, Max Roberts stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'm a much better fighter than what you seen here, TRUST ME, ill be better next time.'.
