The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith lands a jab-cross combination.
Myers feints and then cracks Smith's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Smith down.

Myers closes the distance and clinches.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith.
Myers pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Smith connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Myers gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Myers tries to work over Smith's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Smith dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Smith doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Smith is looking to break free of the clinch but Myers has double underhooks.

Myers blocks an elbow strike from Smith.

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith swings for the body but Myers moves out of range.
Myers connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Myers has taken the fight to the clinch.

Myers manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Myers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Myers tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
Myers throws a big elbow that misses.
Myers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Myers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Sammy Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good leg kick by Myers there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Smith fails to land with a series of punches.
Sloppy strikes from Myers. Those never looked like landing.
A slapping body kick lands there for Smith.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A head kick misses from Smith.
Myers steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Smith. That one must have hurt.
Myers is breathing heavily.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
It looked like Myers was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Smith scores with a spinning back kick!
Myers swats away the attempt to clinch by Smith.
Myers drops down looking for a counter takedown but Smith sprawls and moves away.
Smith has his takedown stuffed

and Myers counters by clinching up.
Jack Myers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sammy Smith.
Smith is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Myers is keeping busy.
Smith connects with a knee to the head.

It looks like Jack Myers has been cut.
Smith throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Myers pulls guard successfully.

Myers pushes Smith off and scrambles back to his feet.
