PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Glover (ranked 24764 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zander McGee (ranked 5814 p4p, 0 weight class). Zander McGee told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGee throws a sloppy head kick and Glover moves out of range easily.
Glover really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McGee gets the takedown into side control.

McGee decides to stand up, so the ref orders Glover to his feet.
Zander McGee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McGee has managed to clinch.

McGee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McGee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McGee lands in his opponent's guard.

McGee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Glover has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McGee has managed to get both his arms back between Glover's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Glover has his foot on McGee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGee works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Glover is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McGee defends well.

McGee decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Glover, up you get!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

McGee looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Glover!
Glover is not content to let McGee control the position.
Glover is looking for a sweep.
Glover manages to work his way to half guard, despite McGee's best efforts.
McGee is stalling here. Glover is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! McGee seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Glover has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Glover decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Glover looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McGee tries a head kick but it misses.

Glover throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Glover manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Glover tries to keep at a distance but McGee has taken the fight into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

McGee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Glover keeps working.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacob Glover will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

McGee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

It appears Glover was looking to counter with a kick there.
McGee wants to clinch up but Glover keeps it at a distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Glover enables McGee to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Glover manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Glover wants to get back to his feet but McGee passes into half guard.

Jacob Glover overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

McGee is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Glover defends it well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McGee in particular looking to stall.

McGee is looking to take a break and control but Glover is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McGee sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Glover is trying desperately to improve position.

Glover is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
McGee wants to control the pace but Glover is squirming around nicely.

Zander McGee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Glover postures up in McGee's guard and throws a big left but McGee blocks it.

Glover stands up over McGee, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

McGee lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Glover is looking to cinch up a triangle. McGee throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Glover's body to avoid the submission. Glover has instead reached around McGee's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Glover arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
