The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Couture lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sturridge circles away quickly and effectively.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Couture will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Couture closes the distance and clinches.
Sturridge lands a nice uppercut.

Couture misses with a hook to the ribs.
Sturridge drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Couture gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Sturridge is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Couture is defending well for now.
Couture lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Sturridge is still on wobbly legs! Can Couture finish him?

Sturridge breaks the clinch.
A slow jab from Couture misses its intended target.
Sturridge seems to have recovered his senses.
Couture takes a swing at Sturridge's ribcage but misses.
Sturridge throws a looping overhand right but Couture ducks down to avoid it.
Sturridge shoots in looking for a takedown. Couture tries to sprawl out of it but Sturridge keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Couture manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dan Couture has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Isaiah Sturridge.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Sturridge pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Couture pushes Sturridge back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
