Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Da Silva Miyao (ranked 5288 p4p, 540 weight class) and Owen King (ranked 23952 p4p, 759 weight class). Owen King has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paulo Da Silva Miyao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Owen King!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King looks for a takedown but Miyao sprawls well.
Miyao avoids the body shot from King.
Miyao keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Miyao is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Miyao moves in looking to clinch but King pushes him off.

King tries to sprawl but Miyao drives through with a takedown into half guard.
King is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miyao is pressing down on King's thigh, looking to free his foot. King is holding on for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King manages to get to full guard.
Miyao looking to sit in guard and control but King gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Miyao has his hands on King's head, controlling the position.
King trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
King trying to control the position from guard on top but Miyao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Miyao wants to stand but King is controlling the position.
King wants to control from the top but Miyao keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
King looking to sit in guard and control but Miyao gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


King has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Miyao is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for King.
King gets back to half guard.
Miyao is thwarting King's attempts to control the position.
Miyao is stalling here. King is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Miyao seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and King has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
King wants to control but Miyao is keeping him busy.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Miyao tries to buck King off but King is having none of it.
King tries to move to mount but Miyao blocks the move with his legs.
King advances nicely into full mount.
Miyao tries to hold on but King postures up.
Miyao has given up his back here. Will King look for the submission or keep pounding away?

King is looking for the choke from the back position but Miyao is controlling his hands well.

King looking for the RNC.

King has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Miyao is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if King gets his way!
King looks winded!

King has good solid back control here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King is controlling the position but Miyao somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Miyao wants to control but King is keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
King frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
King wants to control the pace but Miyao is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Owen King dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Miyao feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
King wants to sweep here but Miyao controlling him for the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miyao accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Miyao postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
King is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Miyao lands a couple of digs.
Miyao throws an elbow that misses. King uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Miyao's guard. Nice move by King!


Miyao is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. King is aware though and is defending well.
King passes Miyao's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
King tries to pass to full mount but Miyao defends it.
Owen King has got the better of the ground game so far.
King is trying to control. Miyao wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Miyao tries to get to full guard but King has control of the leg.

Miyao trying to control but King postures up.
King passes to side control.
We've been informed that King has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
King trying to control the position but Miyao is working away.
Miyao is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, King asserts his dominance and retains side control.

King goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Miyao has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for King but great work by Miyao.

King is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on King's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Miyao controls the position from side control.
Miyao tries to stand but King is controlling his head.
Miyao fails to land a wild elbow strike.
King is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Miyao is thwarting King's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Miyao not landing any meaningful shots this time.
King slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

King is looking for a triangle but Miyao pushes his legs off easily.
King looking to control but Miyao passes into half guard.
King is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Miyao scores with a couple of nice shots.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
King is trying to maintain the position but Miyao is very close to passing his half guard.
Miyao is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
King controls Miyao momentarily but Miyao frees himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
King dives in and grabs Miyao's left leg, looking for a takedown. Miyao pushes down on King's head and hops out.
King fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Miyao drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

King is trying to improve his position.
Miyao is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Miyao tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Miyao lands a decent elbow from side control.
Miyao gets to mount! King was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
King can't escape the position.
The referee warns King that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
King wants to hold on but Miyao pushes him away.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Miyao cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
King is looking to get to half guard.
Miyao controlling from the full mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
King wants to control but Miyao is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Paulo Da Silva Miyao showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Miyao has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
