Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brett Oconnor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oconnor tries for a takedown but Wallace sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Wallace drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Oconnor manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Oconnor tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Wallace breaks the clinch.
Wallace throws a head kick that misses
and Oconnor counters with a three punch combo that has Wallace backing up. Wallace nods at Oconnor to acknowledge the strikes.
Wallace throws a head kick that Oconnor semi-blocks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wallace throws a lazy head kick
and Oconnor counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Wallace misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
It appears Oconnor was looking to counter with a kick there.
Oconnor fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brett Oconnor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oconnor gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Wallace moves into the clinch.

Oconnor jumps guard but Wallace stands there with Oconnor around his waist. Oconnor gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Oconnor is trying to break the clinch but Wallace has him pressed against the cage.

A head kick by Wallace misses
and Oconnor counters with a left and a right that stings Wallace.

Wallace moves into the clinch.

Wallace gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Oconnor regains guard.

Wallace stands up and waves to Oconnor to follow him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wallace pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Oconnor back to the cage. Wallace follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Brett Oconnor has been cut.
Wallace misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wallace throws a head kick that misses.
A little feinted left hand from Oconnor on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Oconnor gets tackled into the cage by Wallace. Wallace maintains the clinch.

Wallace pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Oconnor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wallace's waist but Wallace gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Oconnor off to one side.

Wallace closes the distance and clinches.
Oconnor managing to block the knees to the body from Wallace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Oconnor tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Wallace breaks the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Wallace has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Oconnor regains guard immediately.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Oconnor manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Wallace's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Oconnor has taken the fight to the clinch.

Wallace breaks the clinch.
Oconnor throws a half hearted mid kick.

Oconnor gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Oconnor pushes Wallace off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wallace throws a lazy head kick
and Oconnor counters with a series of strikes. Wallace will be more careful next time no doubt.

Wallace closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Oconnor sneaks out the side door and pushes Wallace away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wallace misses with a head kick.

Wallace closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Oconnor's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brett Oconnor will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Brett Oconnor's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wallace misses with a head kick.
Oconnor feints a jab promting Wallace to slip. Oconnor then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Wallace slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Wallace closes the distance and clinches.
Oconnor jumps guard but Wallace turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wallace goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Oconnor tries to break the clinch but Wallace is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oconnor has had enough of the clinch but Wallace keeps him there for the moment.
Oconnor tries to pull guard but Wallace holds him up against the cage and eventually Oconnor drops back down to his feet.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Wallace lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Wallace breaks the clinch.

Wallace throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Oconnor tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wallace is in Oconnor's guard.

Wallace stands up from guard. Let's bang!
No joy there for Wallace, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Oconnor went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
David Wallace seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Wallace will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Oconnor has his takedown stuffed

and Wallace counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wallace.

Wallace escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Oconnor tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wallace smiles and moves away.
Wallace lunges at Oconnor with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Oconnor's hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Wallace manages to break the clinch.
Wallace slaps away a takedown attempt from Oconnor, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Oconnor shoots in for a double leg but Wallace sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Wallace throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Oconnor tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wallace is in Oconnor's guard.

Oconnor is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Wallace presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wallace gets control of Oconnor's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wallace will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Oconnor would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Wallace wriggles free and stands up.

Wallace throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Oconnor was covering up waiting for the punch and Wallace finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Oconnor has his feet on Wallace's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Wallace lands a big head kick that sends Oconnor tumbling to the mat! Wallace takes a step backwards and waves Oconnor back to his feet - he wants the finish!
