PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Artur Kasza (ranked 1144 p4p, 128 weight class) and Patrice Beaudry (ranked 1410 p4p, 162 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Artur Kasza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Patrice Beaudry!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasza shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Beaudry as he avoids it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kasza is defended easily by Beaudry.
And Beaudry tries to counter it with a takedown but Kasza pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Beaudry dives in and grabs Kasza's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kasza pushes down on Beaudry's head and hops out.
Kasza appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Kasza has been working on his balance at Island Safe Space, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Beaudry.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kasza shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Beaudry napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
You can see the frustration on Beaudry's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Beaudry is not content to let Kasza control the position.
Kasza is chipping away with strikes.

It looks like Patrice Beaudry has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kasza cracks Beaudry with a big elbow.

That has opened up Patrice Beaudry's cut even more.
Beaudry tries to improve position but can't.
Kasza content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Beaudry sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beaudry trying to hold on to Kasza's head to control him but Kasza postures up.
Beaudry moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kasza is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Kasza postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kasza won't allow Beaudry to sweep him here.
Beaudry is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kasza wants to pass the guard but Beaudry is keeping the position.
Kasza trying to control the position from guard on top but Beaudry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The cut above Patrice Beaudry's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Patrice Beaudry's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Patrice Beaudry's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
