PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Taiga Jim (ranked 133 p4p, 19 weight class) and Casper Timmermans (ranked 464 p4p, 59 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taiga Jim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Casper Timmermans!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Timmermans misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jim doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Timmermans has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Timmermans cracks Jim with a right hand to the side of the head.
A big right from Jim misses.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jim.
Jim sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Timmermans is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Jim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Timmermans keeps working.
Timmermans tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jim wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jim is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Jim scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Timmermans keeping hold of Jim's head, controlling as best he can.
Timmermans wants to get back to full guard.
Jim working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Jim thows a huge punch but Timmermans dodges it nicely.
Jim thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Timmermans's head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Timmermans tries to get to full guard but Jim has control of the leg.

Jim working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Jim lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Timmermans is controlling Jim's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Timmermans is pressing down on Jim's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Jim throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Timmermans works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jim is looking to work some ground and pound but Timmermans has wrist control.

Jim wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jim has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Timmermans throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Taiga Jim will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Timmermans uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jim.
Jim throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Timmermans's head.
Jim blocks a jab.

Timmermans throws a leg kick but Jim sees it coming and moves out of range.
Timmermans fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Timmermans scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jim doesn't seem bothered though.

Timmermans stops Jim from passing to mount.
Timmermans can't do much from the bottom here.
Timmermans tries to improve position but can't.
Jim is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Jim wants to control for a moment but Timmermans uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Taiga Jim overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jim slips a nice elbow through Timmermans's hands, connecting with Timmermans's forehead.
Timmermans is looking to control Jim's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Timmermans avoid being mounted?
Jim is taking a breather. Timmermans says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jim's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jim getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Casper Timmermans seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Timmermans avoids the body shot from Jim.
Jim misses with a hook.
Timmermans is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Timmermans swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
It looked like Jim wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Timmermans sizes up Jim with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Jim misses with a looping left.
Timmermans throws a hook to the side of Jim's head but Jim sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Timmermans.

Jim throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Timmermans looks for a takedown but Jim sprawls well.
Jim swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Jim throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jim takes one to the chin there.
Timmermans dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jim. That did some damage!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Timmermans shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jim but Jim pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Taiga Jim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Casper Timmermans.

That was a close second round but I would say that Taiga Jim will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Timmermans shoots for a double leg takedown but Jim sprawls well. He's pushed Timmermans's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jim closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Jim was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Jim avoids a kick to the body.
Casper Timmermans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Timmermans misses with a shot to the body
and Jim counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Timmermans throws a solid leg kick but Jim takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Timmermans.
Jim walks into a straight right hand from Timmermans.
Casper Timmermans has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jim takes a swing at Timmermans's ribcage but misses.
Timmermans lands with a good body shot.
Nice defenses there by Jim.
A quick step to the side and Jim tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Timmermans tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A decent looking cross lands there for Timmermans.
Timmermans leaves Jim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Timmermans misses the jab.
Jim closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jim. Timmermans does a little dance to reset his feet.

Timmermans fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jim looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Good leg kick by Timmermans there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Timmermans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Timmermans drops his shoulder and cracks Jim with a huge uppercut! Jim goes down! Can Timmermans finish him?


Jim is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Timmermans postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Jim covers up, he's hurt! Timmermans keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Timmermans and the ref steps in to end the fight! Timmermans can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Casper Timmermans!
Casper Timmermans decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
