Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alva Davis (ranked 24357 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Lee (ranked 5750 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alva Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Samuel Lee!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis throws a head kick but Lee moves out of range.
Lee shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davis as he jumps to the side.
Lee shoots for a takedown but Davis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Davis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lee.
Alva Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samuel Lee.

Davis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Davis stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Davis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Davis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Lee with a poor takedown
and Davis counters with a one-two to the body.
Davis finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Davis throws a head kick that misses.
Davis scores with a head kick.

Davis gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lee trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Davis manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!


That's two minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Davis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis stands up and waves to Lee to follow him.
Lee dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Davis. That did some damage!
Davis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lee moves into range and clinches up with Davis.
Davis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lee to keep the fight standing.
Davis is trying to push Lee away but Lee has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Davis comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Lee lands a nice knee to the body.

Lee breaks the clinch.

Lee instigates a clinch.

Davis pulls guard successfully.
Lee makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Davis seems keen to control Lee's posture.
Davis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lee throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee wanted to stand there but Davis had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee throws a strike but Davis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Lee is looking to stand back up but Davis counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lee.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lee is looking to get back to is feet but Davis passes into side control.

Davis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lee has escaped the position, nice work there.

Lee bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alva Davis dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lee shoots in looking for a takedown. Davis tries to sprawl out of it but Lee keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Davis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Davis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lee circles away.
Davis throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Davis clinches.
Davis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee lands a good knee to the midsection. Davis won't want to take too many of those.

Davis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Davis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Davis keeping full guard, as Lee tries to pass.
Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lee stands up and waves to Davis to follow him.
Davis misses with a double jab.
Davis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side.
Lee is looking for the big counter here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alva Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Davis pushes Lee off and gets back to his feet.

Alva Davis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lee rushes Davis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lee tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Davis avoids the head kick by Lee.
Lee tries to clinch up.
Lee fails with the takedown.

Lee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Davis has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Lee is on him like a limpet, forcing Davis back against the cage.

Davis jumps guard but Lee stands there with Davis around his waist. Davis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Davis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Davis tries to break free but Lee pushes him back against the cage.
Lee connects with a nasty looking knee right to Davis's face.

Lee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Davis circles away.
Davis tried to score with a low kick but Lee checks it.
Davis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lee throws a head kick but Davis moves out of range.
Lee throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Lee is looking to clinch.
Davis throws a big counter combination but Lee scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Davis throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Lee's head.
Lee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Davis circles away quickly and effectively.
Lee shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davis as he jumps to the side.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Davis wants to clinch but Lee slips to the side
and Lee counters with a three punch combo that has Davis backing up. Davis nods at Lee to acknowledge the strikes.
Davis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lee tries to land a front kick but Davis steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Crunch! Lee slams his shin into Davis's torso.
Lee pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Samuel Lee will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Davis shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense.

Lee has taken the fight to the clinch.
Davis fails to pull guard.

Davis breaks from the clinch.

Lee shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Davis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lee throws a strike but Davis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Davis has gone for a leg lock! Lee slips out almost immediately though and dives into Davis's guard.

Davis keeping moving, preventing Lee from controlling successfully.

Lee throwing strikes but missing.

Lee drops back, looking for a kneebar! Davis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Davis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Davis!


Davis decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lee to his feet.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Lee.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee misses with a head kick.
Davis throws a sloppy head kick and Lee moves out of range easily.
Lee tries to land a front kick but Davis steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Lee slaps away a takedown attempt from Davis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alva Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Davis misses with a takedown
and Lee counters with a two punch combo.
Lee moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Lee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Davis swivels and escapes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Davis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Davis dives in and grabs Lee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes down on Davis's head and hops out.
Lee unleashes a big counter combination but Davis bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Lee decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Lee prevents Davis from standing back up.
Davis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Davis is looking for a sweep. Lee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Davis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lee's back!

Davis is looking for the choke from the back position but Lee is controlling his hands well.
Lee is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Lee showing good submission defense here.

Davis is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lee has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Samuel Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
