Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Carwyn Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shahwali Hussainzada!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Cain misses.
Hussainzada slaps away a takedown attempt from Cain, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Cain throws the kick towards the body but Hussainzada avoids it.
Hussainzada fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cain half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Cain fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Cain counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Cain makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cain is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cain drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cain jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hussainzada utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cain stands up over Hussainzada, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cain is looking to work some ground and pound but Hussainzada has wrist control.
Hussainzada keeping moving, preventing Cain from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hussainzada really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hussainzada has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cain is working away from the top position though.

Hussainzada has hold of Cain's hands but Cain slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Cain is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hussainzada has managed to free his arm - good work.

Cain seems to be looking for submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hussainzada misses with the body kick

and Cain counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cain connects with a nice short shot to Hussainzada's temple.
Cain thows a huge punch but Hussainzada dodges it nicely.
Hussainzada is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cain scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hussainzada wants to control but Cain is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Cain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hussainzada sees it coming and defends easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hussainzada can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hussainzada is not content to let Cain control the position.
Cain looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Hussainzada is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Cain jumps into side control!

Cain lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Cain is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hussainzada is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Cain working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Cain is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Hussainzada is trying to escape and Cain transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Hussainzada is forced to tap! Nice work there by Cain! Very nice indeed!
