Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyndon Grant (ranked 6092 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Kronen (ranked 7803 p4p, 0 weight class). Erik Kronen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lyndon Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erik Kronen!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kronen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kronen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kronen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Grant regains half guard.
Grant might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Grant is staying active underneath Kronen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kronen stops Grant from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kronen is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Kronen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kronen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Grant tries to kick Kronen off in order to stand up. Kronen Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Grant explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Kronen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Grant fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kronen, pushing him back against the cage.
Grant is trying to break the clinch but Kronen is controlling him.

Kronen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kronen throws a sloppy head kick and Grant moves out of range easily.
Kronen thows a leg kick but Grant checks it

and Grant counters with a shoot takedown. Kronen fights it but they end up in guard.
Kronen looks winded!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grant stops Kronen from standing up.

Kronen looking for a sweep. Not yet Kronen, not yet.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Los Angeles inform us that Kronen has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Grant could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Grant controlling from the top position.
Grant seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kronen for as long as he can get away with.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kronen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A low kick from Kronen is predictable there

and Grant counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kronen tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Grant manages to move to mount!

Grant gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Grant manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Erik Kronen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grant shoots for a double leg takedown but Kronen sprawls well. He's pushed Grant's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kronen tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kronen throws a head kick that misses
and Grant counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Grant closes the distance and clinches.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Grant for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Kronen wants to break free but Grant has control.
Come on Grant - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Kronen is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Grant pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kronen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Grant's guard.

Grant is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Grant manages to break the clinch.

Kronen throws a head kick but Grant moves out of range.

Grant breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Grant is in close to Kronen's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Grant stays in close to Kronen's body and controls the position.
Kronen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Grant is one step ahead there.
Lyndon Grant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kronen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Grant controls the pace.

Grant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kronen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kronen passes Grant's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Grant makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Grant shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kronen napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Kronen is looking for a sweep.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Grant thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kronen is trying to control Grant's posture but Grant avoids it.
Grant is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kronen can do to turn this around?

Grant is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Erik Kronen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kronen throws the kick towards the body but Grant avoids it.

A lazy body kick from Kronen
and Grant counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Grant escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Grant rushes Kronen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Grant jumps guard but Kronen turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kronen can't break the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Grant breaks the clinch.
Grant tries to close the distance and clinch but Kronen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Erik Kronen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lyndon Grant is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Grant pushes Kronen up against the cage in a clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lyndon Grant showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Grant, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
