The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Pereira. No joy for McHeartney on that attempt.
McHeartney has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Pereira is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Pereira throws a lazy right hand but McHeartney sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pereira is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
McHeartney shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pereira pinned against the ropes. Pereira gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
McHeartney tries to clinch but Pereira is having none of it.

McHeartney dives in for a single leg takedown but Pereira sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Pereira is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Pereira is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but McHeartney couldn't care less - he's delighted!
