Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Longfellow Deeds (ranked 13780 p4p, 705 weight class) and Bob Backlund (ranked 11907 p4p, 654 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 6 losses; Longfellow Deeds! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 7 losses; Bob Backlund!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Backlund changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Deeds tries to avoid it but Backlund manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Deeds to the ground. Deeds escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Deeds pushes Backlund up against the ropes in a clinch.

Backlund wants to control from the top but Deeds keeps moving.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Backlund won't allow Deeds to sweep him here.
We've been hearing good reports from Deeds's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Deeds is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Deeds has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Backlund can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
My spies in Steel's Grappling Penn inform me that Backlund has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Backlund wants to control from the top but Deeds keeps moving.
Backlund slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Deeds is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Backlund's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Backlund's back!

Deeds has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Backlund has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Deeds has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Backlund! Can he survive? No! He's out! Deeds gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
