PBP Commentary

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kurt Wagner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cornelius Albatross!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wagner tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Albatross defends well and Wagner ends up having to push Albatross into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Wagner steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Albatross.

Albatross lands a big uppercut and Wagner crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Wagner looks OK. Albatross waves Wagner back to his feet!


It looks like Kurt Wagner has been cut.
Wagner feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Albatrosss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Albatross gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wagner to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Albatross keeping full guard, as Wagner tries to pass.
Albatross is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wagner is controlling him.
Albatross can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wagner controls the pace.
Wagner tries to free his leg and advance position but Albatross is retaining full guard.
Albatross is wriggling around but Wagner manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wagner prevents Albatross from standing back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Wagner seems content to control.

Wagner is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Albatross defends it well.
Wagner controlling the action here.
Albatross is looking for a sweep. Wagner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Wagner has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Albatross defend it? Wagner steps over the head and cranks it - Albatross is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Wagner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kurt Wagner!
A relieved looking Kurt Wagner thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
