PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ciro Di Marzio (ranked 1705 p4p, 219 weight class) and Trevor Lee (ranked 2714 p4p, 309 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Trevor Lee was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ciro Di Marzio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trevor Lee!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marzio swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Lee with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Nice uppercut lands for Marzio. That snapped Lee's head back.
Lee wants to clinch but Marzio slips to the side

and Marzio counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Lee!

Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marzio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Marzio tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Marzio has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Marzio creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lee sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Marzio working for a guillotine from mount but Lee is in no mood to give up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth.

Marzio throws some wild stikes that Lee manages to avoid easily.

Marzio goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Lee turns into him and now he's in Marzio's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Marzio escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Marzio has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Marzio has his foot on Lee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lee works his way back into a safe position though.

Marzio is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Marzio is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lee defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Marzio fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Marzio lands a really nice looking cross but Lee seems unphased.
Marzio fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lee manages to avoid it.

and Marzio counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Marzio has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Marzio drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marzio jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Marzio pushes down on Lee's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ciro Di Marzio overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marzio is trying for a kimura here. Lee looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Marzio wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ciro Di Marzio!
Ciro Di Marzio really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Knockdown Clothes logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
