Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Smith (ranked 1684 p4p, 206 weight class) and Frank Wildhauser (ranked 1632 p4p, 199 weight class). Scott Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Scott Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank Wildhauser!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wildhauser moves into the clinch.
The referee calls for Wildhauser to work.
Smith tries to pull guard but Wildhauser forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Smith has been working on his balance at Island Safe Space, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Wildhauser.

Wildhauser turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wildhauser is looking for a kimura but Smith is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wildhauser to get the leverage.

Smith looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wildhauser gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wildhauser is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well Wildhauser has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
