Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Costa (ranked 8600 p4p, 651 weight class) and Ken Cage (ranked 23336 p4p, 674 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Santiago Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ken Cage!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Costa moves away from the strike by Cage.
Costa drops his hands momentarily and Cage takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Cage tries a head kick but it misses.
Costa slips a jab from Cage.
Costa just misses with a punch to the body.
Cage dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Costa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cage looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cage is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Costa off and has taken his back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Cage is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Costa is defending well though. Cage let's go of the attempt for now.

I really don't envy Costa right now.

Costa looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cage has picked Costa up and slammed him! Costa can't keep hold of the triangle and Cage manages to pass to side control!
Cage is looking to take a break and control but Costa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Costa tries to buck Cage off but Cage is having none of it.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Costa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Costa closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cage's guard.
Costa is fighting to break Cage's control of his arms but Cage is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Costa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cage manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Costa has Cage in his guard.


Costa throws his legs up looking for a submission but Cage uses it to pass to side control.
Costa parries the strikes from Cage easily there. Cage is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Costa to escape.

Cage has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Costa has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Costa is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cage gets his way!

Let's hope that Cage has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Cage has Costa pulled in close to control his posture.
Costa wants to control from the top but Cage keeps moving.
Cage is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cage is on top in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Costa isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cage stacks Costa on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cage!
Cage works to advance to full mount. Costa defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Ken Cage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Cage might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Costa haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Cage sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

You can see the frustration on Costa's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Costa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Costa is fighting to break Cage's control of his arms but Cage is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Costa is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cage is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cage has escaped and now he's on top!

Cage slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Well Cage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
