Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alva Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jonathan Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castillo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Castillo showed some decent athleticism there.

Davis regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Castillo.
Castillo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Castillo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Castillo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Davis haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Davis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Castillo takes a kick to the side of the head.

Castillo instigates a clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Davis jumps guard but Castillo turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Castillo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Davis throws a head kick that misses
and Castillo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Davis clinches.
Davis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Davis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Castillo just stands there and leans against the cage.
Davis jumps guard but Castillo turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Davis connects with a knee to the head.
Davis tries to pull guard but Castillo won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alva Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davis breaks from the clinch.

Castillo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Davis napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Castillo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Davis some visible discomfort.
Davis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Castillo on the ground.
Castillo is looking to take a break and control but Davis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Davis is trying to escape the position but Castillo is controlling the position.
Castillo taking a break here but Davis is having none of it and regains half guard.
Castillo performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Castillo is nestled in close to Davis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Castillo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Castillo is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Castillo decides to stand up.
A head kick misses from Castillo.
Castillo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Davis counters with a left and a right that stings Castillo.

Castillo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Castillo showed some decent athleticism there.

Davis trying to hold on to Castillo's head to control him but Castillo postures up.
Castillo landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.


Davis is rocked!
Castillo is pressing down on Davis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Davis is holding on for now.
Oh Davis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Castillo decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Castillo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Davis is trying to defend but Castillo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Davis tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Castillo manages to move to mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Castillo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Davis tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Castillo controlling the pace for now.
Castillo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Castillo lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Castillo postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Davis bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Castillo and the fight is over!
