Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Attish Mubeen (ranked 3701 p4p, 413 weight class) and Zhasulan Boranbayev (ranked 5233 p4p, 529 weight class). Zhasulan Boranbayev is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Attish Mubeen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zhasulan Boranbayev!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boranbayev gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Boranbayev tries to land knees in the clinch but Mubeen avoids the damage to the body.
Mubeen is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Mubeen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Boranbayev shoots in and bounces Mubeen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mubeen pulls Boranbayev in close to his closed guard and prevents Boranbayev from doing any damage or advancing position.
Boranbayev is looking to work some ground and pound but Mubeen has wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mubeen is trying to keep Boranbayev in close.
Boranbayev would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Boranbayev wants to control from the top but Mubeen keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Boranbayev holds on to Mubeen around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
Boranbayev is bucking up trying to escape but Mubeen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Boranbayev slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Mubeen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mubeen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mubeen wants it to stay on the feet.

Boranbayev throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mubeen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Boranbayev is in Mubeen's guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boranbayev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mubeen's waist but Mubeen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boranbayev off to one side.
Boranbayev shoots for a takedown but Mubeen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mubeen seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Attish Mubeen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zhasulan Boranbayev.
Mubeen shoots in for a double leg but Boranbayev sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Boranbayev is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Mubeen counters with a series of strikes. Boranbayev will be more careful next time no doubt.
Attish Mubeen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mubeen wants to sweep here but Boranbayev controlling him for the moment.

Mubeen is looking for a triangle but Boranbayev pushes his legs off easily.

Mubeen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boranbayev can do to turn this around?

Boranbayev shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mubeen's guard.
Boranbayev is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Attish Mubeen will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Boranbayev decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mubeen looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boranbayev is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Boranbayev misses with a head shot. Mubeen uses the momentum to regain guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mubeen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Boranbayev manages to get himself to full guard.

Boranbayev is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Boranbayev not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Boranbayev looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Boranbayev escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mubeen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Boranbayev takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Boranbayev is looking to sweep but instead, Mubeen has passed into half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mubeen is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Boranbayev wants to control but Mubeen passes into side.
Boranbayev can't do much from the bottom here.
Boranbayev tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Attish Mubeen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Boranbayev is still trying to improve position.
Boranbayev wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Mubeen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Boranbayev is trying to work for a sweep but Mubeen has mounted him!
Boranbayev is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Attish Mubeen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mubeen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
