Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tiago Alexandre (ranked 6245 p4p, 586 weight class) and Mickey Ward (ranked 25370 p4p, 735 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward wants to clinch.
Ward moves in looking to clinch but Alexandre pushes him off.
Ward shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Alexandre attempts a counter takedown but Ward avoids it well and moves away.

Alexandre closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Alexandre is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ward is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
