The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blake throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mcpherson's waist but Mcpherson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Blake off to one side.
Mcpherson throws a big counter combination but Blake scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Blake looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mcpherson is fending him off so far but Blake persists. Nope, Mcpherson circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mcpherson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Blake has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mcpherson wants to control but Blake postures up.

Mcpherson is looking to regain half guard here but Blake keeps moving and retains side control.

Blake works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Blake takes a little break here. Mcpherson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcpherson can't do much from the bottom here.
Blake lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Blake scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Mcpherson is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Blake can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
