Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elias Olsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Erik Sykes!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sykes drives through with a takedown into Olsen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Olsen lands an upkick as Sykes stands over him.

Sykes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Olsen, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Olsen dodges the ground and pound from Sykes.

Sykes goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Olsen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sykes but great work by Olsen.

Sykes sneaks out the side door and pushes Olsen away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Sykes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Sykes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Olsen is just riding it out for now. Sykes eventually gives up the hold.

Sykes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Olsen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sykes.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


No joy there for Sykes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Olsen throws a quick counter head kick but Sykes was just out of range.

Olsen tries to sprawl but Sykes drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Olsen tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Sykes manages to move to mount!
The referee warns Olsen that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


It looks like Elias Olsen has been cut.
Olsen is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Sykes punching from mount but Olsen doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Sykes is stalling here but it's allowed Olsen to get half guard.

Sykes seems to be looking for submissions.

Sykes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Olsen sees it coming and defends easily.
Olsen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Sykes is looking to pass Olsen's guard but actually Olsen recovers to full guard.
Sykes tries to free his leg and advance position but Olsen is retaining full guard.
Sykes looking to sit in guard and control but Olsen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Olsen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sykes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Olsen wants to stand but Sykes is controlling his posture from full guard.

Sykes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Olsen controls the pace.

Sykes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Olsen manages to get himself to full guard.

Sykes lands a couple of digs.
Olsen wants to stand and escape but Sykes is having none of it.
Sykes advances to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Erik Sykes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Olsen pushes Sykes off, looking to escape but Sykes dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Olsen is forced to tap! The fight is over!
