Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Lee (ranked 6205 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Sol (ranked 5736 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Sol will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Samuel Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dan Sol!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sol throws a series of punches but Lee avoids them all with ease.
Sol changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lee tries to avoid it but Sol manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lee to the ground. Lee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sol tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sol somewhat.
Sol fails with the takedown.
Samuel Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Sol.
Sol misses with a takedown attempt - Lee sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sol shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lee but Lee pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lee lands a head kick. Sol smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Sol's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Sol duly obliges.

Lee throws a head kick but Sol moves out of range.
Sol lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sol.
Sol blocks a head kick by Lee.
Lee throws a wild body kick that Sol sees coming a mile off.
Sol steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Lee keeps the fight on the outside.
Sol changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lee tries to avoid it but Sol manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lee to the ground. Lee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lee appears to be looking for a big counter.
Sol looks winded!
Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Sol moves out of range easily.
Lee throws a right and a left that Sol avoids nicely.

Sol gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lee to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sol is working an open guard so Lee takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sol shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Sol shoots in and drives through. Lee sprawls well.

Lee has picked Sol up - he's going for a ride! Lee dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Lee perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are battling for position here. Sol manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Lee stands up from Sol's guard - Lee perhaps looking for a knockout.
Lee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sol moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lee tries to bum rush Sol with a series of wild strikes but Sol uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sol tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Lee clinches.

Sol is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lee to keep the fight standing.

Lee pulls Sol into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sol wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
Sol stops Lee from standing up.

Lee wriggles free and stands up.

Lee decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Sol manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Lee keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee drives through and clinches with Sol against the cage.
Lee tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sol smiles and moves away.
Sol shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lee but Lee pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sol shoots in looking for a takedown but Lee manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sol's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Lee leaves Sol with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Despite the aggression on Sol's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Lee looks to land a combination but Sol avoids it well.

Lee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lee gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Sol looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Lee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dan Sol seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Samuel Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lee is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sol can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Lee jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sol is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sol and Lee has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Sol is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lee tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Well Lee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
