Souza has chosen Gwen Stefani-Luxurious as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hirigushi lands a jab.
Souza looks to throw the jab but Hirigushi is out of range.

Hirigushi rushes Souza and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hirigushi softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Souza has Hirigushi pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hirigushi manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

A nice right hand lands inside from Hirigushi.
Hirigushi misses with a short punch on the inside.
Souza tries to pull guard but Hirigushi holds him up against the cage and eventually Souza drops back down to his feet.
Hirigushi lands a shoulder strike.
Hirigushi lands a hook that snaps the head of Souza backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hirigushi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Hirigushi lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Hirigushi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hirigushi connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Souza closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hirigushi circles away.

Hirigushi lands a nice uppercut.
Hirigushi lands a body punch in the clinch.
Hirigushi throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Souza looks winded!
Souza is trying to pull guard but Hirigushi turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hirigushi is working Souza over against the cage.
I was talking to Hirigushi's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hirigushi makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hirigushi lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Souza backwards.
Hirigushi lands a nice uppercut.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hirigushi.

Hirigushi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hirigushi leaves Souza with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hirigushi is looking to counter punch.
Hirigushi connects with a body shot that sends Souza's belly button to the back.
Hirigushi looks to land a combination. Souza sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Souza's coach down at Official UFC Striking, Mui Tai and BJJ Training Ce was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Souza's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Souza walks into a left hand.
Souza misses the jab.
A little feinted left hand from Hirigushi on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Hirigushi lands with a nice body punch.

Hirigushi sends Souza crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Hirigushi is motioning to the referee to let Souza up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Souza is rocked!
Hirigushi throws a shot to the body.
Souza is still on wobbly legs! Can Hirigushi finish him?
Souza gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Hirigushi gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Souza is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kendo Hirigushi!

Kendo Hirigushi spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
Ritchie Souza spoke after the fight, saying 'That dude is on PED's he needs to be tested ASAP. Cheater...'.
