Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Davey Peterson (ranked 5774 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bwanali Longwe (ranked 22863 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Longwe's choice of entrance music: kojo funds dun talking. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Davey Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bwanali Longwe!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Eliza Hachem and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson shoots in for a takedown but Longwe shows good takedown defense.
Longwe appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Longwe scores with a jab.


It looks like Davey Peterson has been cut.
Peterson darts in trying to clinch

and Longwe counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Peterson!

Longwe working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Peterson tries to bench press Longwe off him but Longwe keeps the position.
Longwe slows the pace down.
Peterson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Longwe connects with a decent elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Check out the look on Longwe's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Longwe is trying to get an arm triangle but Peterson is defending well.

Longwe is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Peterson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Longwe happy to just control the position for now.

Longwe decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Longwe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Longwe.
Longwe scoring with punches to the head and body.
Peterson wants to improve his position but instead Longwe has moved into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Peterson tries to get to full guard but Longwe has control of the leg.

Longwe looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Longwe stands up and beckons Peterson to join him on the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Peterson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Peterson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Davey Peterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nice sprawl there from Longwe as Peterson shoots in.

Longwe lands a left and a right that send Peterson crashing to the mat, dazed. Longwe thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Peterson is rocked!

Longwe shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Longwe slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Longwe lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Bwanali Longwe!
Our winner, Bwanali Longwe, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
