PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Gallagher (ranked 558 p4p, 83 weight class) and Boris Kane (ranked 537 p4p, 81 weight class). Gallagher comes into the arena with Drunkin' Lullabies by Flogging Molly blaring out of the sound system. Kane has chosen Seek N Strike as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Gallagher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Boris Kane!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kane has a takedown stuffed.
Gallagher is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
A jab from Kane misses.
Gallagher throws a lazy right hand but Kane sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And Kane tries to counter it with a takedown but Gallagher pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Kane takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A left lands for Kane.
Kane takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Gallagher on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Gallagher uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kane.
Gallagher swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Kane closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gallagher to the mat! Gallagher manages to get full guard.

Gallagher seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Kane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gallagher wants to stand but Kane is controlling the position.
Kane has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Gallagher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kane on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kane is controlling the pace.

Gallagher's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Kane is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gallagher to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gallagher shrugs it off.
Gallagher really wants to buck Kane off and get back to his feet.

You get the feeling that Gallagher really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kane lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Boris Kane will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Kane's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gallagher under the eye.
Gallagher throws out a loose jab but Kane uses good head movement to avoid it.

And Kane responds with a good body kick, but Gallagher manages to step out the way in time.

Kane changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gallagher looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

It looks like Boris Kane has been cut.

and Gallagher counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Kane! He's just covering up as Gallagher starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
