CEFC Fight Night 227 PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Abner Applegate (ranked 2240 p4p, 258 weight class) and Pascual Perez (ranked 6517 p4p, 545 weight class). Perez has chosen Another One Bites The Dust as his entrance music. Pascual Perez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Applegate missing with a left hand there. Perez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Perez wants to counter with a clinch but Applegate pushes him away.

Perez tries to close the distance and clinch but Applegate swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Applegate has Perez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Applegate pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Perez tumbling to the mat - Applegate dives into Perez's guard.

Perez has his foot on Applegate's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Applegate works his way back into a safe position though.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Applegate creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Perez goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Perez is looking to control Applegate's arms but Applegate gets an underhook and turns him. Now Perez has his back to the cage.

Applegate creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Perez with a big uppercut! Perez tries to clinch up but Applegate pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Perez to the mat! Perez covers up and Applegate unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Abner Applegate decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
