Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcel Dikoume (ranked 6578 p4p, 595 weight class) and Saku Takashi (ranked 4029 p4p, 442 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcel Dikoume!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Saku Takashi!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dikoume keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Dikoume half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Takashi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Dikoume is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Takashi defends well.
Dikoume is trying to control the position but Takashi postures up.
Takashi is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Takashi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
It looks like Takashi might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Let's hope that Takashi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Takashi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dikoume. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Takashi.
Dikoume is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Takashi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Dikoume is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Dikoume is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Takashi is aware though and is defending well.
Takashi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Takashi postures up in Dikoume's guard and throws a big left but Dikoume blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've been informed that Takashi has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Dikoume is looking to improve his position but Takashi isn't that keen on the idea.

Takashi is pulling down on Dikoume's head. It's preventing any offense from Dikoume, at least for the moment.

Saku Takashi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Takashi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Takashi manages to end up in side control.
