Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Machida (ranked 25318 p4p, 691 weight class) and John Doe (ranked 25296 p4p, 713 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doe fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Machida forces Doe back against the cage and clinches.
Doe is trying to push Machida away but Machida has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Machida is trying to pull guard but Doe turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Machida turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Machida manages to end up in side control.
Machida postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machida tries to score with some ground and pound. Doe controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Machida wants to lay and pray for a moment but Doe keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Doe drops down looking for an ankle pick but Machida pulls his leg out and moves away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lyoto Machida.
