PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Theodore La Cumber (ranked 5916 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emperor Severus (ranked 7639 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
La Cumber tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Severus defends well and La Cumber ends up having to push Severus into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

La Cumber really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

La Cumber has Severus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Severus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Severus is trying to break the clinch but La Cumber is controlling him.

Severus has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Severus throws a series of punches but La Cumber avoids them all with ease.
Severus rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but La Cumber moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Severus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but La Cumber circles away quickly and effectively.
La Cumber shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Severus defends it nicely.

and La Cumber counters with a single leg into guard. Severus didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
La Cumber stands up over Severus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Severus wants to stand but La Cumber is controlling the position.

La Cumber keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Severus's head.
Severus is looking to stand up but La Cumber isn't so interested in that idea.
La Cumber sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Severus's guard.

La Cumber jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Severus manages to avoid the submission attempt.

La Cumber is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Severus will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

La Cumber jumps guard and drags Severus to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Severus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now La Cumber is on top in guard.

La Cumber decides to return to a standing position.
Severus feints a jab promting La Cumber to slip. Severus then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. La Cumber slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
La Cumber misses with a takedown attempt - Severus sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Severus looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
La Cumber fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Severus avoids it really well and circles away.

La Cumber closes the distance and clinches up with Severus, looking for a takedown. La Cumber pushes Severus against the cage but Severus circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Some bone on bone action there as Severus checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Severus attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
La Cumber gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! La Cumber tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Severus is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and La Cumber buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves La Cumber!! La Cumber is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Severus throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
