Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Diego Velasquez (ranked 4651 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Lee (ranked 8168 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen california love as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Bruce Lee enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Diego Velasquez !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bruce Lee!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee fails with the takedown

and Velasquez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Velasquez .

Velasquez breaks from the clinch.
Lee misses with a series of wild punches.
Velasquez drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lee sprawls and moves away.
Velasquez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lee moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Velasquez moves into the clinch.

Velasquez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lee tries a head kick but it misses.
Lee looks winded!
Velasquez scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee fails with the takedown.
No luck for Velasquez with that takedown attempt.

Velasquez moves into the clinch successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Velasquez to keep the fight standing.
Diego Velasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Lee.

Velasquez gets control of Lee's arms and successfully pulls guard. Velasquez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Velasquez attempts a counter takedown but Lee avoids it well and moves away.

Velasquez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lee is trying to defend but Velasquez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Velasquez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Velasquez lands strikes from half guard.
Velasquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Velasquez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Velasquez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lee has managed to free his arm - good work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Velasquez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lee, pushing him back against the cage.

Velasquez pulls guard effortlessly.
Velasquez wants to stand up but Lee is controlling him.

Velasquez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee is breathing heavily.

Lee won't allow Velasquez to sweep him here.
Velasquez doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Velasquez is trying to keep Lee in close.
Velasquez wants to control the position but Lee says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Well, if Lee is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Velasquez regains full guard. Nicely done.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Velasquez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Velasquez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Velasquez is trying to keep Lee in close.

Velasquez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Velasquez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Velasquez distracts Lee with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velasquez pushing down on Lee's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Velasquez in particular looking to stall.
Velasquez wants to pass the guard but Lee is defending well.
Lee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Velasquez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Velasquez decides to stand up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Velasquez throws a head kick that misses.

Lee wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Velasquez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Velasquez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Velasquez is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Diego Velasquez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Velasquez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lee quickly recovers to half guard.

Diego Velasquez showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Velasquez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
