PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Renzo Alves (ranked 4424 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Gonzalez (ranked 25189 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Renzo Alves has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Renzo Alves seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Alves counters with a nice uppercut.
Gonzalez shoots for a takedown but Alves saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A little feinted left hand from Alves on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gonzalez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Alves bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Gonzalez's head.

Alves manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gonzalez on his heels. He'll look to pass Gonzalez's guard now, I'm sure.
Alves controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Alves chips away with some ground and pound.
Alves is working Gonzalez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Alves is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Alves forces his way into half guard.
Gonzalez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Alves scores with a couple of nice shots.
Gonzalez on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Alves keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alves connects with a nice short shot to Gonzalez's temple.

Alves is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gonzalez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alves .

Gonzalez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alves seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Alves slips a nice elbow through Gonzalez's hands, connecting with Gonzalez's forehead.
Alves is nestled in close to Gonzalez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Alves lands a big elbow - Gonzalez is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Alves !
