PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Henrique Ramos (ranked 1033 p4p, 129 weight class) and Ouje Bougoumou (ranked 2851 p4p, 327 weight class). Ramos comes into the arena with Sepultura - Nomad blaring out of the sound system. Ouje Bougoumou has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henrique Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ouje Bougoumou!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bougoumou connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Bougoumou misses with a hook. Ramos ducked under it nicely.
Ramos misses with a wild body shot.
Bougoumou throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The fighters circling - Ramos throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bougoumou scores with a sloppy right hand. Ramos should have avoided that one.
Bougoumou has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ramos is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Ramos uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bougoumou.
The fighters circle momentarily. Ramos darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Bougoumou dives in and scores a takedown into Ramos's guard.

Bougoumou seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ramos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bougoumou is looking for a kimura here.
Ramos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bougoumou is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ramos has managed to free his arm - good work.

Bougoumou is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Bougoumou is trying to control the action in half guard but Ramos is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ramos is controlling Bougoumou's trapped leg to prevent Bougoumou from advancing to side control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bougoumou crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Ramos - the referee stops the clock and Bougoumou gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Ramos. Bougoumou manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Ramos throws a leg kick but Bougoumou checks it.
Bougoumou uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ramos has time to react.

Bougoumou dives in and grabs Ramos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ramos pushes down on Bougoumou's head and hops out.
Ramos misses with a low kick as Bougoumou jumps back.
Bougoumou slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Bougoumou has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Bougoumou blocks a jab.
Ramos throws a shot from downtown. Bougoumou moves away and avoids it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ramos misses the shot to the body.
Bougoumou changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ramos takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Ramos dives in and scores a takedown into Bougoumou's guard.
Ramos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bougoumou working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ramos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ramos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bougoumou wants to sweep here but Ramos controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ouje Bougoumou will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bougoumou moves forwards but Ramos connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Bougoumou misses with a straight right.
Bougoumou fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ramos on the side of the head.
Ramos misses the shot to the body.
Bougoumou looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Bougoumou swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Bougoumou counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bougoumou stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramos swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bougoumou is looking to advance position but Ramos has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Ramos is landing with some decent strikes but Bougoumou is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
