Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dustin Somm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Tanagul!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Somm shoots in but no luck this time.
Somm looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Somm looks to land a body kick but Tanagul moved away.
Tanagul drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Somm defends it well.
Tanagul misses with a head kick.

Somm fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tanagul sprawls well initially but Somm persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Somm decides to return to a standing position.
Somm tries for a takedown but Tanagul circles away easily
and Tanagul counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Tanagul gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Somm has been working on his balance at Cozad The Island, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Tanagul.
Tanagul is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tanagul escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tanagul fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Tanagul closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Somm did well to prevent Tanagul getting side control.

Somm tries to kick Tanagul off but Tanagul keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Tanagul lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Tanagul is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Somm defends it well.
Tanagul seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Tanagul really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Somm. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Tanagul is looking to advance position but Somm won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Somm is controlling Tanagul's trapped leg to prevent Tanagul from advancing to side control.

Tanagul seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Somm is pressing down on Tanagul's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Tanagul makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Somm looking for a guillotine here but Tanagul defends easily.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tanagul connects with a couple of short punches.
Tanagul wants to get up but he can't break Somm's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Tanagul dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Somm closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Somm lands in his opponent's guard.

Somm decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tanagul, up you get!
Dustin Somm is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Somm stuffs the takedown attempt from Tanagul. Tanagul gets slowly back to his feet.
Tanagul has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A slapping body kick lands there for Somm.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tanagul clinches.

Tanagul escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Somm is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Tanagul.


Somm is rocked!


It looks like Dustin Somm has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tanagul shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Somm sprawls well. Somm wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tanagul gets slowly back to his feet.
Oh Somm is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Somm fails with the takedown
and Tanagul counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Somm off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Tanagul follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Somm was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Joe Tanagul!
