PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Riggs (ranked 25198 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lotacks Uttok (ranked 7876 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerry Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lotacks Uttok!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riggs is trying hard to land a takedown here. Uttok sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Riggs darts in looking for a takedown but Uttok gets double underhooks and turns Riggs into the cage.

Uttok rushes Riggs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Uttok gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Riggs pushes Uttok off and gets back to his feet.
Riggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Uttok closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Riggs is not content to let Uttok control the position.
Riggs is looking for a sweep. Uttok is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Uttok is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Uttok wants to pass to mount but Riggs is defending the position.

Uttok keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Riggs gets back to full guard.
Uttok really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Riggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Riggs is on top in guard.

Uttok is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Uttok is working Riggs over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Uttok stands up from Riggs's guard - Uttok perhaps looking for a knockout.

Uttok has managed to clinch.
Riggs wants to break the clinch but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lotacks Uttok dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Riggs pushes Uttok off and gets back to his feet.
Uttok misses with a body shot.
Uttok tries to clinch up.
Riggs shoots in for a takedown but Uttok shows good takedown defense.

Riggs is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Uttok presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Riggs is looking to break free of the clinch but Uttok has double underhooks.

Riggs on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Riggs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Uttok has Riggs pressed against the cage, preventing Riggs from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Uttok lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Riggs wants to control but Uttok is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Uttok looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Uttok is breathing heavily.
Uttok throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Riggs is looking to control Uttok's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Riggs avoid being mounted?

Uttok is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lotacks Uttok has got the better of the ground game so far.

Riggs tries to roll over but Uttok keeps him under control.
Riggs is working hard here to advance position.
Riggs is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Uttok must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Uttok stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Riggs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Uttok closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Riggs's guard.
Riggs pulls Uttok in to control the position.
Uttok has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Riggs is trying to control the position but Uttok postures up.
Riggs has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Uttok has passed into side control.

Uttok decides to stand back up.

Riggs tries to keep at a distance but Uttok has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lotacks Uttok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Riggs misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Riggs decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Uttok can do anything to dispel that myth.
Uttok throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Riggs is looking to take a break and control but Uttok is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Uttok is trying to control but can't.

Uttok manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Riggs keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Uttok lands a shoulder strike.

Uttok's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lotacks Uttok comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Uttok has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
