PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Master Splinter (ranked 3445 p4p, 303 weight class) and Lord Seshomaru (ranked 3120 p4p, 280 weight class). Splinter comes to the cage accompanied by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Theme Song. Seshomaru has chosen PRIDE NEVER DIES THEME SONG as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Master Splinter has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Master Splinter seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Master Splinter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lord Seshomaru!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seshomaru sizes up Splinter with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A left lands for Splinter.
Seshomaru tries a low kick but Splinter avoids it.

Splinter lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Seshomaru backs up against the cage.
Splinter throws a head kick that misses.
A slow jab from Seshomaru misses its intended target.
A counter left hand to the body from Splinter misses its target.
Seshomaru misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Seshomaru throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Splinter's head.

and Splinter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Splinter pivots, looking for a leg kick but Seshomaru is out of range and Splinter settles back down.

Splinter tries to bum rush Seshomaru with a series of wild strikes but Seshomaru uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Splinter lands a really nice looking cross but Seshomaru seems unphased.
Splinter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Seshomaru! But no joy.

Seshomaru lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Splinter circles away quickly and effectively.

Splinter throws a hook but Seshomaru blocks it.
Seshomaru looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Seshomaru cracks Splinter with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

The fighters circling - Splinter throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Seshomaru throws a low kick but Splinter moves out of range easily.
A slapping body kick lands there for Seshomaru.
Seshomaru throws a head kick that misses.
Seshomaru stalks Splinter and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Splinter's face. Splinter staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Master Splinter has been cut.

and Seshomaru counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Seshomaru's coach down at BigIsland BigGuns Warrior Training was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Seshomaru's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Seshomaru throws out a counter right but Splinter avoids it with no problem.
Seshomaru with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Splinter to score with a decent uppercut.

Seshomaru throws a lazy right hand but Splinter sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Seshomaru throws a sloppy head kick and Splinter moves out of range easily.
Splinter is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Seshomaru.
Seshomaru misses with a hook. Splinter ducked under it nicely.

Seshomaru's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Splinter connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Seshomaru scrambles back to his feet.
Splinter takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Seshomaru jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Splinter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Splinter takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Master Splinter will probably get the nod.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Seshomaru.

and Seshomaru counters with a nice low kick that buckles Splinter's knee momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Seshomaru crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Splinter - the referee stops the clock and Seshomaru gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Splinter. Seshomaru manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Splinter will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

Lord Seshomaru showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Splinter throws a pinpoint strike between Seshomaru's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Seshomaru crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Splinter scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Master Splinter!
Master Splinter took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'I AM no longer the weak gatekeeper I'm hitting my prime and I'm ready to make my mark!!'.
