Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Luiz Araujo (ranked 2755 p4p, 271 weight class) and Borys Mankowski (ranked 8040 p4p, 587 weight class). Araujo comes to the ring accompanied by Who Shot Ya?. Mankowski is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Kękę -Wyjebane. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 7 losses; Luiz Araujo! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 4 losses; Borys Mankowski!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Mankowski is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Araujo defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mankowski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mankowski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Araujo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Araujo wants to work for an arm triangle but Mankowski is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mankowski has his foot on Araujo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Araujo works his way back into a safe position though.

Araujo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Araujo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mankowski is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Araujo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Araujo's back!

Mankowski is looking for the choke from the back position but Araujo is controlling his hands well.
Mankowski is trying to stick to Araujo's back but Araujo is turning into Mankowski. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mankowski's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Araujo.

Mankowski isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Araujo stacks Mankowski on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Araujo!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Araujo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mankowski has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Araujo working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Mankowski looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Araujo! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Luiz Araujo!
Luiz Araujo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
