PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brian Jones (ranked 2218 p4p, 101 weight class) and Ryan Tubridy (ranked 21649 p4p, 331 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Take my hand. Tubridy has chosen Late Late theme tune as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ryan Tubridy!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tubridy throws a lazy uppercut
and Jones counters with a body kick.
Jones moves out of range as Tubridy strikes.

Tubridy decides to pull guard.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tubridy is keeping the position for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tubridy defends it well.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tubridy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tubridy wants to control but Jones postures up.
Tubridy is not content to let Jones control the position.
Tubridy regains half guard there - taking advantage of Jones's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Tubridy wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tubridy can do to turn this around?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones is keen to just control but Tubridy is a slippery customer.
