PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Ivarsson (ranked 5838 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dylan Taylor (ranked 25315 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor instigates a clinch.

Taylor drags the fight down to the ground.
Ivarsson controlling from the top position.

Taylor has his foot on Ivarsson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ivarsson works his way back into a safe position though.
Taylor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ivarsson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Taylor is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ivarsson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Taylor's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ivarsson stands up over Taylor, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Taylor looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Ivarsson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ivarsson in particular looking to stall.
Ivarsson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Ivarsson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Taylor sees it coming and defends easily.

Ivarsson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Ivarsson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Taylor is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ivarsson is looking to take a break and control but Taylor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ivarsson advances nicely into full mount.
Taylor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ivarsson gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Ivarsson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ivarsson throws a big counter combination but Taylor scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Nice takedown defense from Ivarsson. No joy for Taylor on that attempt.
Ivarsson is looking to counter the offense by Taylor and move into the clinch.

Ivarsson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Taylor on his heels. He'll look to pass Taylor's guard now, I'm sure.
Ivarsson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ivarsson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Ivarsson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Taylor's half guard.

Ivarsson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Taylor is just riding it out for now. Ivarsson eventually gives up the hold.

Taylor is breathing heavily.
Ivarsson fails to land with a series of punches.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Taylor manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Ivarsson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Taylor uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ivarsson is on top in guard.

Ivarsson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Taylor to see if he's OK.

Ivarsson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Taylor is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ivarsson yanks on the arm and Taylor is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ivarsson.
