Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Ronson (ranked 4468 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafaello Oliveiro (ranked 7549 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Patrick Ronson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rafaello Oliveiro!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ronson forces Oliveiro back against the cage and clinches.

Ronson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Oliveiro regains guard.
Oliveiro looking for a sweep. Not yet Oliveiro, not yet.
Ronson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Ronson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ronson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Oliveiro bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ronson's guard.

Ronson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ronson holds on and takes a little breather.
Oliveiro trying to control but Ronson is working from the bottom.
Oliveiro preventing the sweep.
Oliveiro is pushing down on Ronson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ronson is fighting to maintain full guard but Oliveiro has managed to sneak the leg through.
Oliveiro prevents Ronson from standing back up.

Ronson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Oliveiro on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Oliveiro works his foot free and advances to mount.
Oliveiro throws some wild stikes that Ronson manages to avoid easily.
Ronson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ronson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Ronson is looking to get to half guard.
Ronson has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Oliveiro's lack of action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Oliveiro not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Oliveiro prevents Ronson from improving his position.

Ronson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Oliveiro pulls his head out easily.
Oliveiro throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Oliveiro is keen to just control but Ronson is a slippery customer.
Ronson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Oliveiro wants to stand but Ronson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Ronson is defending against the submission attempts here by Oliveiro.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ronson wants to get back to his feet.
Ronson trying to control but Oliveiro postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Oliveiro fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Oliveiro throws a quick inside leg kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Oliveiro fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Ronson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ronson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oliveiro keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rafaello Oliveiro dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Oliveiro shoots and misses

and Ronson counters by moving into the clinch.
Oliveiro tries to pull guard but Ronson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Oliveiro wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ronson has him pressed against the cage.
Oliveiro has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ronson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Patrick Ronson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafaello Oliveiro.
Ronson is pressed up against the cage. Oliveiro has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ronson down to the mat. Ronson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Oliveiro looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ronson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Oliveiro to the ground. Ronson is now in Oliveiro's guard.

Oliveiro is trying to control the position but Ronson postures up.
Ronson wanted to stand there but Oliveiro had control of the position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ronson wants to stand but Oliveiro is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ronson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Oliveiro as he jumps to the side.
Oliveiro fails with a takedown attempt.

Ronson has managed to clinch.
Oliveiro keeps control of Ronson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Ronson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Oliveiro.

A right hand to the body from Ronson.
Ronson misses with an elbow over the top.
Ronson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Oliveiro throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Oliveiro jumps guard but Ronson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ronson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ronson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Oliveiro throws a strike but Ronson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ronson won't allow Oliveiro to sweep him here.

Oliveiro is looking for a triangle but Ronson pushes his legs off easily.
Ronson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ronson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oliveiro swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ronson wants to control from the top but Oliveiro keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ronson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Oliveiro's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Oliveiro misses with a double jab.

Ronson drives through with a takedown into Oliveiro's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Ronson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Oliveiro can do to turn this around?
Oliveiro keeping moving, preventing Ronson from controlling successfully.

Oliveiro has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ronson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Oliveiro.
Ronson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Oliveiro to see if he's OK.

Patrick Ronson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ronson tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Oliveiro is looking for a sweep.
Oliveiro is still trying to improve position.
Oliveiro takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Ronson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Ronson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Ronson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Oliveiro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Oliveiro is looking for a sweep.
Oliveiro tries to escape but Ronson is in control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Patrick Ronson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A left lands for Oliveiro.
Ronson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Oliveiro pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Oliveiro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ronson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Ronson moves into the clinch successfully.

Ronson wants the takedown. Oliveiro is fighting it off but Ronson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Oliveiro's guard against the cage.
Ronson looking to sit in guard and control but Oliveiro gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ronson wants to sweep but no luck.
Oliveiro passes easily into side control. Nice work.
You can see the frustration on Ronson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A control attempt from Ronson but he's now mounted!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Patrick Ronson.
I think Ronson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
