Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Jones (ranked 3158 p4p, 351 weight class) and Brian Dann (ranked 4266 p4p, 460 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Dann!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dann avoids it really well and circles away.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Dann tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dann manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dann tries to counter by closing the distance.
Jones darts in looking for a takedown but Dann gets double underhooks and turns Jones into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dann throws a solid leg kick but Jones takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Dann.
Jones half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Dann closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dann lands in his opponent's guard.

Dann darts in looking for a takedown but Jones gets double underhooks and turns Dann into the cage.

Dann closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage.

Dann breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dann shoots and misses
and Jones counters with a one-two to the body.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dann swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dann drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jones defends it well.

Dann drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.

Dann jumps guard and drags Jones to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dann looking for a sweep. Not yet Dann, not yet.
Jones postures up in Dann's guard and throws a big left but Dann blocks it.

Dann has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Jones has passed into side control.

Jones tries for a kimura but Dann is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dann can't do much from the bottom here.
Dann tries to bench press Jones off him but Jones keeps the position.

Dann is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jones off and has taken his back!

Jones is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.

Dann rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Dann jumps into guard, dragging Jones to the mat.

Dann escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Dann manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Dann fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
Dann wants to counter the offense by Jones and move into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dann fails with a takedown attempt.

Dann fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.

Dann tries for a takedown. No joy.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but Dann keeps him there for the moment.
Dann jumps guard but Jones stands there with Dann around his waist. Dann gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Dann misses with a punch on the inside.
Dann fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jones throws an elbow but it misses.
Dann gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jones.
Dann tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Dann has picked Jones up - he's going for a ride! Dann dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Jones is looking to get back to is feet but Dann passes into side control.

Dann goes for a takedown attempt but Jones pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Dann avoids the elbow strike from Jones, against the cage.

Dann breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Dann, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dann looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dann misses with a double jab.

Dann closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dann is looking to control Jones's arms but Jones gets an underhook and turns him. Now Dann has his back to the cage.
Jones is trying to break the clinch but Dann is controlling him.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Dann showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jones is trying to break free.
Dann prevents the takedown attempt.
I was talking to Jones's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Dann has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dann landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dann is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Brian Dann is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
