PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Crushman (ranked 848 p4p, 32 weight class) and Umberto Reem (ranked 443 p4p, 15 weight class). Reem has chosen Bad Reputation as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Crushman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Umberto Reem!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crushman misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Reem.

Crushman keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Reem's jab looks to have found its range, popping Crushman under the eye.
Crushman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reem is fending him off so far but Crushman persists. Nope, Reem circles away and we're back to standing.

and Reem counters with an inside leg kick.
Crushman throws the kick towards the body but Reem avoids it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Crushman.
Reem on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Crushman. Crushman obviously looking to wear him down.
Reem throws a series of punches but Crushman moves out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Crushman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Reem thinking.
A looping hook to the body misses from Crushman. Reem does a little dance to reset his feet.
Reem tries a quick counter leg kick but Crushman is wise to it.

and Reem counters with a series of strikes. Crushman will be more careful next time no doubt.

Reem lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Crushman at a distance.
Reem fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Crushman avoids the head kick by Reem.
Crushman swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
The fighters circle momentarily. Crushman darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Good leg kick by Crushman there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Reem scores with a shot to the body.

Crushman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Crushman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Reem wants to stand up but Crushman is controlling him.

Crushman prevents Reem from getting back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A swing and a miss from Reem.
Reem with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Reem takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Reem closes the distance and clinches.
Crushman is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Crushman blocks a body shot from Reem.
Reem blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Crushman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Reem gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Crushman misses with a shot to the kidneys.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

and Reem counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Reem throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Crushman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Reem checks a leg kick.

Crushman tries to land a front kick but Reem steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Reem counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Umberto Reem seems to be getting the better of the standup.

That kick from Reem tenderised Crushman's leg. Crushman is trying to keep his angry face on.
Reem avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

We've been informed that Reem has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Crushman tries to work over Reem's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Crushman swings wildly with an uppercut but Reem uses good head movement to avoid it.
Crushman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Reem takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Umberto Reem seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Crushman misses with a leg kick.
Reem was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Crushman throws a leg kick but Reem sees it coming and moves out of range.
Reem lands with a good body shot.

Reem feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Crushman sprawling to the canvas! Crushman rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Reem finish him?!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Crushman dodges the punch combination from Reem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Umberto Reem showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
