Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christopher Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Umberto Turturro!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Umberto Turturro has been cut.
Ward plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Turturro tries for a takedown but Ward circles away easily
and Ward counters with a straight right hand.

and Turturro takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ward is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
A punch lands to the side of Turturro 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That has opened up Umberto Turturro's cut even more.
Turturro misses with a takedown attempt - Ward sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Christopher Ward has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Umberto Turturro.
Turturro tries for a takedown but Ward circles away easily
and Ward counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Turturro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Turturro thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ward being controlled here, momentarily.
Turturro drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Turturro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Turturro is looking to advance position but Ward has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Ward will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Turturro is desperately trying to improve his position but Ward has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Turturro sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Turturro wants to improve his position but Ward is controlling well.
Turturro moves into full guard.
Ward avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Turturro is looking to cinch up a triangle. Ward throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Turturro's body to avoid the submission. Turturro has instead reached around Ward's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Turturro arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Umberto Turturro!
Umberto Turturro decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
