Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Conrad Calacon (ranked 2282 p4p, 261 weight class) and Mallador Locke (ranked 3561 p4p, 367 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calacon scoring well with a low kick there.
Calacon throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Locke tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Calacon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Locke lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Locke closes the distance and clinches.

Calacon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Locke keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Locke looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Locke tries to clinch but Calacon is having none of it.
Calacon fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

and Locke counters with a three punch combo that has Calacon backing up. Calacon nods at Locke to acknowledge the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Locke comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Locke throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Calacon buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Calacon throws a hook but Locke avoids it easily.
Locke looks for the body kick but Calacon saw that one coming.

Locke throws a low kick, looking for Calacon's leg but Calacon calmly moves out of range.
Calacon throws a hook to the side of Locke's head but Locke sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Calacon lets loose with a powerful body kick. Locke will feel that in the morning.
Locke goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Locke ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Locke looks to land a left hand but Calacon moved out of range nicely.
Locke takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nice straight punches there by Calacon. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Calacon.
Calacon misses with a double jab
and Locke counters with a straight right hand.
Locke just misses with a punch to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Calacon on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Locke shoots in for a double leg but Calacon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Calacon is looking to clinch but Locke is avoiding it.
Locke walks into a jab.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Locke. Calacon shrugs it off though.
Calacon lands a nice shot that snaps Locke's head back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Locke misses the jab.
Calacon stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Locke.

Locke fails with the takedown.
Locke lands with a hook. Calacon tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
No luck for Locke with that takedown attempt.
Conrad Calacon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mallador Locke.
Calacon displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Locke throws out the jab.
Calacon seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Calacon avoids the body shot from Locke.
We've been informed that Locke has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Calacon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Locke circles away quickly and effectively.
Calacon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Locke sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Calacon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Calacon has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Locke.

It seemed like Locke was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Locke is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Calacon.
Calacon tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
As Calacon backs off Locke throws a huge counter combo but Calacon manages to avoid it all.

Calacon was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Calacon drops Locke with a beautiful combination! Locke stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Calacon is looking for the KO!
Locke is still on wobbly legs! Can Calacon finish him?

It looks like Mallador Locke has been cut.

Calacon instigates a clinch.

Calacon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Locke closes the distance and clinches up with Calacon, looking for a takedown. Locke pushes Calacon against the cage but Calacon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Calacon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Calacon is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Calacon throws an uppercut from hell that sends Locke clean off his feet! He's out cold! Calacon stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
