PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ferdinand Juluk (ranked 8399 p4p, 664 weight class) and Mickey Flannerry (ranked 3443 p4p, 378 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ferdinand Juluk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mickey Flannerry!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Bruno Hogan and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good shot there by Flannerry.
Flannerry throws a nice looking combination but Juluk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Some wild striking there from Flannerry.
It looked like Juluk was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Flannerry lands with a shot to the body.
Flannerry takes a swing at Juluk's ribcage but misses.
Juluk bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Juluk tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Flannerry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Juluk takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Juluk closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Flannerry blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Juluk tries to pull guard but Flannerry holds him up against the cage and eventually Juluk drops back down to his feet.
Flannerry slows down the pace here.

Juluk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Flannerry darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Juluk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Flannerry just misses with a punch to the body.
Juluk really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Flannerry throws a right hand that Juluk ducks under and follows up with a left that Juluk also avoids with ease.

As Flannerry looks to move away, Juluk throws a big counter combo but Flannerry just gets out of the way.
Juluk shoots for a double leg takedown but Flannerry sprawls well. He's pushed Juluk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Juluk tries to clinch but Flannerry moves out of range.
Flannerry throws a right and a left that Juluk avoids nicely.
A combination from Flannerry does no damage.

Flannerry scores with a shoulder strike.
Flannerry looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Flannerry lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Juluk tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Juluk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Juluk shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Flannerry is trying to defend but Juluk finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Flannerry has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Juluk is working away from the top position though.

Juluk is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Flannerry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Juluk.

Flannerry swings for the body but Juluk moves out of range.
Juluk appears to be looking for a big counter.
Flannerry stalks Juluk and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Juluk's face. Juluk staggers backwards, shaken.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flannerry throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Flannerry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Juluk moves away.
Flannerry swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Flannerry gets tackled into the cage by Juluk. Juluk maintains the clinch.
Juluk wants a takedown but no success here.
Juluk is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Flannerry is defending well.
Flannerry throws a head punch that misses.
Flannerry lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Juluk backwards.
Flannerry tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Juluk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Juluk shoots in for a takedown but Flannerry shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Juluk displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Flannerry throws out the jab.
Flannerry cracks Juluk with a hook to the temple - Juluk is on wobbly legs here! Flannerry swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Juluk falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Flannerry wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mickey Flannerry!
An out of breath Mickey Flannerry thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
