PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Francisco Marquez (ranked 4361 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ali Zayed Abdulrakhman (ranked 2505 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francisco Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ali Zayed Abdulrakhman!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez fails to land the takedown.
Marquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Abdulrakhman tries to avoid it but Marquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Abdulrakhman to the ground. Abdulrakhman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Abdulrakhman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marquez, pushing him back against the cage.
Marquez has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Abdulrakhman after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Francisco Marquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Abdulrakhman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Abdulrakhman in particular looking to stall.
Let's hope that Abdulrakhman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Abdulrakhman.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Abdulrakhman swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Marquez is now in Abdulrakhman's guard. A big mistake from Abdulrakhman there, giving up the dominant position!

Marquez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Abdulrakhman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marquez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Francisco Marquez will probably get the nod.

Ali Zayed Abdulrakhman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Abdulrakhman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
