Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Humphrey Baker (ranked 100 p4p, 15 weight class) and Thomas Hawk (ranked 229 p4p, 26 weight class). Hawk has chosen Deadwood as his entrance music. Humphrey Baker has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Humphrey Baker!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 17 - 1, fighting out of London, Thomas Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hawk.
Hawk swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Baker is looking to counter punch.
Baker fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hawk.
Baker misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hawk.
Hawk steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Baker.

Baker tries to keep at a distance but Hawk has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hawk jumps guard but Baker stands there with Hawk around his waist. Hawk gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Baker stops a takedown attempt from Hawk.
A short right from Baker.
Hawk throws a punch but it's blocked by Baker.
Baker lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Hawk tries to work over Baker's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Humphrey Baker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Hawk.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baker tries to break the clinch but Hawk is controlling the position.
Baker lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Hawk tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Baker makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Hawk has a couple of punches blocked by Baker.
Hawk swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Baker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Hawk tries to counter with a clinch but Baker shakes him off and moves away.

Baker cracks Hawk with an open hand slap.
Baker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Hawk counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Baker kicks off Hawk and gets to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hawk tries to clinch but Baker moves out of range.
Hawk takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Baker pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Baker misses with a left hand
and Baker takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


Baker is rocked!
Hawk throws a right and a left that both miss.
Baker misses with a kick to the body.
Baker lets loose with a powerful body kick. Hawk will feel that in the morning.
Hawk tries to clinch but Baker is having none of it.
Baker appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Baker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Hawk swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Baker throws a leg kick but Hawk moved away.
Baker checks a leg kick.
Hawk takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Humphrey Baker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Baker lands with a right hand.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hawk looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hawk pivots, looking for a leg kick but Baker is out of range and Hawk settles back down.

Hawk connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Baker fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Hawk checks it well.
Baker moves into range and connects with a jab.
Hawk looks to land a right hand but Baker moved out of range.
That kick from Hawk tenderised Baker's leg. Baker is trying to keep his angry face on.
A right-left combo lands from Baker.
Baker lands with a straight right. Hawk didn't see that one coming.
Hawk looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Baker scores with a hook.
Baker is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Baker throws a quick inside leg kick.
Hawk takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hawk wants to slow Baker down by chopping away at his legs.
Baker cracks the inside of Hawk's front leg.

Hawk moves out of range of the body kick from Baker.
Hawk has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Hawk takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Hawk swings for the body but Baker moves out of range.
Baker scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Baker throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Nice defenses there by Baker.
Baker looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Hawk with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Baker to score with a decent uppercut.
Baker buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hawk drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hawk throws a low kick, looking for Baker's leg but Baker calmly moves out of range.
Hawk walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hawk moves away from the strike by Baker.
Baker throws a front kick that sends Hawk stumbling back into the cage.
Baker takes a swing at Hawk's ribcage but misses.
A slapping leg kick lands for Baker.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Humphrey Baker dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Baker wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Hawk takes a swing at Baker's ribcage but misses.
Hawk misses with a body kick.
Hawk scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Baker keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Baker misses with a double jab.
Baker throws a push kick but Hawk slaps the foot to one side.
Hawk punishes Baker's body with a nice straight punch.
Baker thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Hawk if he has to take too many more of those.
Hawk throws a looping overhand right but Baker ducks down to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hawk takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Baker connects with a solid leg kick.
Hawk throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Baker appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Hawk throws a looping overhand right but Baker ducks down to avoid it.
Baker's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hawk under the eye.

Baker looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hawk throws a nice outside leg kick.
Hawk throws a hook to the side of Baker's head but Baker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Hawk counters with a shoot takedown. Baker fights it but they end up in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hawk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Baker pushes Hawk off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Baker throws out a leg kick but Hawk moves out of range and Baker only half commits.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Baker, right into the meat.
Hawk tries to close the distance and clinch but Baker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Baker throws a front kick that sends Hawk stumbling back into the cage.
Baker throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hawk gets a clinch.
Hawk tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Baker smiles and moves away.
Hawk takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Baker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hawk moves away.
Baker lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Baker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hawk can do to turn this around?
Hawk lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Baker throws a nice looking combination but Hawk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hawk takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Baker lands a jab.
Baker misses with a low kick as Hawk jumps back.
Hawk has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Baker.
Hawk tries to clinch up.
Baker is looking to counter with a body kick.

Hawk gets the takedown into side control.
Baker is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hawk asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Hawk working the ground and pound but Baker is defending the strikes.

Hawk tries to move to mount but Baker blocks the move with his legs.
Hawk throws a strike aimed at the side of Baker's head but Baker avoids it well.
Hawk is working Baker over with some ground and pound from side control.
Baker gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Oh Baker is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hawk unloads with some shots from mount but Baker bucks and avoids them well.
Baker seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baker is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
A nice elbow there by Hawk.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawk postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Baker is out cold - huge knockout for Hawk!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Thomas Hawk!
Thomas Hawk is the new middleweight champion!
After winning the bout, Thomas Hawk thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
