PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bunny Anstey (ranked 1437 p4p, 127 weight class) and The Sun God Ra (ranked 2391 p4p, 209 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bunny Anstey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, The Sun God Ra!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ra takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Anstey ducks under a wild hook from Ra.
Anstey shoots in for a takedown but Ra shows good takedown defense.
Anstey swings for the body but Ra moves out of range.
Ra steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Anstey.
Ra throws a jab but it's blocked by Anstey.
Ra connects with a body shot that sends Anstey's belly button to the back.
Ra listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
A nice combination there by Anstey.
Ra waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Anstey.
Anstey avoids the body shot from Ra.
Anstey went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Anstey moves into range and connects with a jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ra fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Anstey, pushing him back against the cage.

Still in half guard, Anstey seems content to control.

Anstey working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Anstey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ra moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Anstey closes the distance and clinches.
Ra lands a good knee to the midsection. Anstey won't want to take too many of those.

Anstey jumps guard and drags Ra to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Ra must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ra lands a couple of elbows.

Ra tries to free his leg and advance position but Anstey is retaining full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ra accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Anstey holds on and takes a little breather.

Horrible takedown attempt by Anstey or perhaps it was just good defense by Ra, which made it look bad.

The fight stays on the outside here - Ra looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ra tries to clinch but Anstey is having none of it.

Ra looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nice uppercut lands for Anstey. That snapped Ra's head back.

Anstey has Ra pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Anstey pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ra tumbling to the mat - Anstey dives into Ra's guard.

Anstey is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ra bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Anstey's guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ra connects with a nice short shot to Anstey's temple.

Ra moves nicely into side control.
Anstey sneaks back into half guard.
Anstey is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Bunny Anstey will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Ra is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Anstey gets his way!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anstey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
