Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luis Perez Saavedra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shahwali Hussainzada!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saavedra darts in looking for a takedown but Hussainzada gets double underhooks and turns Saavedra into the cage.
Hussainzada lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Hussainzada takes the fight into the clinch.
Saavedra tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hussainzada pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hussainzada misses with a combination
and Saavedra counters with a straight right hand.

Hussainzada takes the fight into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Saavedra is looking to control Hussainzada's arms but Hussainzada gets an underhook and turns him. Now Saavedra has his back to the cage.

Hussainzada's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hussainzada fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Good work by Saavedra as he checks the leg kick.
Hussainzada looks for the body kick but Saavedra saw that one coming.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Saavedra drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Saavedra jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hussainzada takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Hussainzada shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hussainzada wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saavedra keeps working.
It looks like Hussainzada is going to stand back up.

Hussainzada throws a strike but Saavedra rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Saavedra thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Saavedra postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shahwali Hussainzada dominated that round.
That's time! Saavedra's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hussainzada fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Saavedra tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Hussainzada manages to circle out of the way.

Hussainzada moves into the clinch successfully.
Hussainzada tries to land knees in the clinch but Saavedra avoids the damage to the body.

Hussainzada has Saavedra pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hussainzada pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Saavedra tumbling to the mat - Hussainzada dives into Saavedra's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hussainzada works over Saavedra with some ground and pound from guard.
Hussainzada wants to stand and escape but instead Saavedra has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Hussainzada looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Saavedra wants to control from the top but Hussainzada keeps moving.
Saavedra slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Hussainzada.

Hussainzada has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Saavedra is working away from the top position though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hussainzada can do anything to dispel that myth.

Saavedra is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hussainzada has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hussainzada is controlling Saavedra's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Hussainzada gets back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Saavedra passes Hussainzada's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hussainzada is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Saavedra has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hussainzada is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Luis Perez Saavedra will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Saavedra looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Saavedra jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hussainzada walks away with a smile on his face. Saavedra gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Saavedra is looking to counter the offense by Hussainzada and move into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hussainzada bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hussainzada is staying tight to Saavedra's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Hussainzada is looking to take a break and control but Saavedra is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Shahwali Hussainzada comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hussainzada has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
